Cloudchord is the musical project of Derek VanScoten, a guitarist and producer whose artistic journey was shaped by the influence of jazz and hip-hop legends. Raised on the music of Jimi Hendrix and inspired by meeting George Benson, Derek received formal training in sound engineering and developed a distinctive style that blends live guitar with dance music. After years performing with the New York-based collective D.V.S, he relocated to Austin, where under the new brand Cloudchord he achieved unprecedented success—six consecutive number-one tracks on the Hype Machine platform. His talent attracted major industry figures: he composed music for the documentary In Football We Trust (which won an Emmy at Sundance), and subsequently worked with major brands including Disney, Gatorade, and L'Oreal. His creative work reflects a profound spiritual connection to music, which serves him as a tool for seeking truth and self-expression.
