Ken & Brad Kolodner - Hand's Cove (2026)

Hand's Cove is the fifth album by the father-son duo Ken and Brad Kolodner, documenting two decades of family musical partnership rooted in Old Time tradition. The album showcases the organic interplay between hammered dulcimer and clawhammer banjo, complemented by long-time collaborators Rachel Eddy on bass and fiddle, and Alex Lacquement on guitar. Notably, the project reimagines compositions from their debut album Otter Creek (2009), reworked through years of touring and creative evolution. The album's title references the historically significant Hand's Cove on Lake Champlain in Vermont, where the 1775 operation to capture Fort Ticonderoga began. The title track blends this historical context with personal family memories of canoe journeys. The album conceptually centers on continuity: across generations, among band members, and between different historical versions of the same melodies. Ken and Brad Kolodner demonstrate how traditional American roots music can evolve while remaining faithful to its core principles—community, rhythmic swing, and the joy of collective musicianship.
