Venezuelan experimental rock band Zeta announces Live in Boston, a new album capturing one of the final U.S. performances with founding member Dani before immigration complications forced the band into a new chapter after more than a decade spent building a life, community, and fiercely independent touring culture across the United States. More than a live record, Live in Boston stands as both a celebration of Zeta’s 10-year journey through America and a document of transition, resilience, and human connection.
Recorded by Marcel Fernandez while touring alongside RX Bandits, the album carries a deeper full-circle significance for the band. During Zeta’s early years in Caracas, Venezuela, Victor Huaman and Yeibert “Nuclear” Vivas introduced the group to Marcel and the DIY community surrounding Waipea Records, the independent label that would release Zeta’s earliest material and help shape the band’s artistic identity. Through that same community, Zeta experienced RX Bandits live in Venezuela for the first time, an experience that would leave a permanent mark on the band’s musical and emotional DNA. Years later, Live in Boston captures Zeta sharing the stage with one of the bands that helped define their vision in the first place.
Originally formed in Lechería, Venezuela in 2003 before relocating to Caracas during the band’s college years, Zeta evolved from a local project into a deeply personal artistic mission shaped by migration, friendship, and survival. After spending more than a decade focused on building legal stability, touring relentlessly, and creating a life within the United States, the band cultivated a devoted grassroots following through more than 1,000 performances across nearly every U.S. state. Rooted in mutual aid, cultural exchange, and DIY ethics, Zeta transformed constant movement into a form of community-building, forging lasting connections far beyond traditional music industry structures.
Rather than marking an ending, Live in Boston represents the beginning of a new chapter for Zeta. After years spent unable to fully reconnect with audiences outside the United States due to immigration realities and legal limitations, the band is now reestablishing deeper ties throughout Latin America while simultaneously opening new paths into Europe and the UK. Today, Zeta exists across different cities and countries, held together less by geography than by a shared commitment to continue creating and performing together despite distance, borders, and constant change. The album captures a unique moment in Zeta’s history, a band reshaping itself across borders while continuing to move forward together across communities, generations, and distances.
