Elliott Murphy - Le Havre Live (Live) (2026) [Hi-Res]

American singer-songwriter Elliott Murphy, who has lived in France for more than three decades, shares his deep affection for Le Havre, a port city in northern France. The city boasts a rich rock-and-roll heritage: in the 1950s and 1960s, local sailors brought blues and rock records from America, earning it a reputation as the French Liverpool. Founded in 1517 by King Francis I, Le Havre was a thriving port from which the legendary transatlantic liner SS Normandie departed. The city was 80% destroyed during World War II but was rebuilt using modern architecture by Auguste Perret and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
In the early 1980s, Murphy produced the debut album of Le Havre-born singer-songwriter Jerome Soligny, which brought him to the city. He later met guitarist Olivier Durand, and a musical partnership developed between them that has lasted more than thirty years. During this time, they have performed nearly two thousand concerts throughout Europe and the United States. Olivier became a member of his band The Murphyland Band alongside percussionist Alan Fatras (20+ years of collaboration), violinist Melissa Cox (10 years), and bassist Aurelien Barbolosi.
In April 2026, to mark the thirtieth anniversary of Murphy and Durand's collaboration, a special concert was organized at the municipal venue Magic Mirrors in Le Havre. The concert was recorded and released as Le Havre Live on a limited-edition CD with subsequent streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. Murphy describes this event as a historical document showcasing the virtuosity of Olivier Durand and, in his opinion, the best lineup of his band.
