Norside released their new album "Coal & Soul," embodying Pittsburgh's industrial heritage and musical vitality. The band structures its sound around the classic organ trio format but infuses contemporary elements through unexpected grooves, experimental improvisation, and occasional brass additions that bring afrobeat flavors to the compositions. The album took shape during live performances, including a joint tour supporting the legendary The New Mastersounds. As a result, the recording captures the authentic drive and energy of Norside's live concerts, translating spontaneity from the stage into finished studio arrangements.
