Cirque du Soleil, Evan Duffy - Cirque du Soleil ‘Auana (2026) [Hi-Res]

‘Auana is the original soundtrack to Cirque du Soleil's resident show of the same name in Honolulu — the company's first production in its 42-year history built around a single place and its language. The score was composed by Los Angeles-based Evan Duffy, who previously scored Cirque du Soleil's Las Vegas show Mad Apple and has worked extensively in film and television. Every lyric on the album is written entirely in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, the Hawaiian language, developed in collaboration with Native Hawaiian linguist Dr. Keao NeSmith.
The stage production premiered in December 2024 at the OUTRIGGER Theater inside the Waikīkī Beachcomber Hotel and continues to run as an ongoing resident show. The soundtrack album follows as a separate music release on BMG Rights Management, preceded by the June 2026 single "Kele ka Moana."
Local musicians feature throughout, led by musical director John Signor, alongside Hawaiian vocalists and instrumentalists and the Kamehameha Schools Children's Chorus. The score blends live and recorded elements and draws on traditional instruments — the nose flute, ukulele, and toere drums — layered with a more cinematic, contemporary sensibility.
Thematically, the album mirrors the show's eight-chapter structure, built around Hawaiian moʻolelo: the moon goddess Hina, the shapeshifting surf spirit Māmala, the separated lovers of the Naupaka legend, and the voyaging traditions of Polynesian navigators — motifs reflected directly in the track titles.
