Swapmeet - Mount Zero (2026) [Hi-Res]

Australian four-piece Swapmeet release their debut full-length album Mount Zero, a sweeping, guitar-driven record that echoes and reinvigorates the alt rock and slowcore of the 90s and early 2000s. The album follows the band's 2024 debut EP Oxalis and their signing to LA-based label Winspear — a deal that came on the heels of growing recognition at home: Swapmeet won Best Release and Best Song (for the track "Ceiling Fan") at the South Australian Music Awards, and were named Best Emerging Artist at SXSW Sydney. Musically, the record blends airy lightness with jagged surrealism, turning the regrets and uncertainties typical of young adulthood into newfound confidence.
The members of Swapmeet usually write their songs individually, but the material for Mount Zero ended up coalescing around shared themes — first loves, first heartbreaks, first embarrassments, first disasters. Continuing a habit from their earliest days as a band, the musicians swapped instruments throughout the recording process and shared production duties as a foursome, layering dozens — sometimes hundreds — of tracks within each song before gradually stripping elements away until the sound found its final shape. The result is a record that physically captures the feeling of changing at a cellular level under reality's unrelenting pressure — a farewell to all the unlived lives and untaken paths, and at the same time a greeting to the one path that lies just ahead.
