"Criaturas da Noite" is considered an absolute classic of 1970s Latin American progressive rock. By the time of recording, the band had added talented keyboardist Sergio Irth and violinist/arranger Marcus Viana, whose string arrangements gave the record a monumental, cinematic scope.

The album is deeply poetic and atmospheric, ranging from acoustic, pastoral folk ballads to complex, multi-structured rock epics. The title track and its instrumentals became hallmarks of the golden age of the Brazilian alternative scene.
