The Liberators - Power Struggle (2013)

The Australian band's second album is a powerful blend of Afrobeat, Afrofunk, funk, soul, Latin music and jazz, built on a polyrhythmic foundation, a tight horn section and a heavy groove. Compared to their debut album, The Liberators have moved towards a darker, harder and deeper sound, clearly drawing on the Afrobeat traditions of the 1970s and the heritage of American funk. The album was recorded in Sydney on analogue tape, with almost no post-production, in order to preserve the energy of the band's live performances as much as possible.
