Elli Medeiros - Elli (1989)

"Elli" (1989) is the second solo studio album by Uruguayan-French singer and actress Elli Medeiros, released on the Barclay label.

Following the resounding success of the dance album "Bom Bom" (1987) and the hit "Toi Mon Toit," Elli Medeiros released a more sophisticated, experimental, and polyrhythmic album. The music retained its spirit, but became more atmospheric and eclectic.

The album's sound was enriched by elements of funk, tango, Latin American percussion, and avant-garde jazz. The album makes extensive use of brass instruments and a carnival rhythm section.

Ramuntcho Matta once again served as the album's producer and primary composer. The recording featured world-renowned musicians: the iconic American avant-garde jazz trumpeter Don Cherry and the famous French bassist Jannick Top (former member of the prog-rock group Magma).
