Tal Mashiach’s sophomore album Who’s Around channels the energy of New York’s creative-music scene: a network of friends, bandstands, and overlapping musical lineages. An in-demand bassist and seven-string guitarist, Mashiach draws together players with roots in Israel, Greece, Georgia, Venezuela, and Chile, shaping those voices and traditions into a virtuosic, rhythmically alive set that moves between jazz, Greek zeibekiko, Brazilian samba, Spanish flamenco, and classical music. At the center is Mashiach himself: a bandleader, organizer, and deeply collaborative musician whose openness gives the album its form, momentum, and sense of community.
