Vadico - Vadico (2026) [Hi-Res]

Vadico is not a conventional studio album but a documentary box set from the Brazilian label Selo Sesc, dedicated to pianist, composer and arranger Oswaldo Gogliano (1910–1962), known as Vadico. The project grew out of a five-year research effort by musician and researcher Franco Galvão, who located 541 pages of Vadico's unpublished scores in the archives of Southern Illinois University in the United States — dating from the composer's years working there in the 1940s and 1950s, when he served as musical director for Carmen Miranda in Hollywood and conducted for dancer Katherine Dunham's company.

That material was catalogued, transcribed and newly recorded for the project: 37 pieces performed by more than 170 musicians spanning several generations of Brazilian music, including Ná Ozzetti, Renato Braz, Zé Renato, Guinga, Hércules Gomes, Cristovão Bastos and Luísa Lacerda, alongside the OCAM chamber orchestra (Escola de Comunicações e Artes, USP) conducted by André Bachur. The set is organized across three discs highlighting different facets of Vadico's career: musical director, instrumentalist, and songwriter — the latter including his celebrated partnership with Noel Rosa on standards such as "Feitio de Oração," "Feitiço da Vila" and "Conversa de Botequim."

The physical box was released on July 31, 2026, alongside a simultaneous digital release, accompanied by a 136-page bilingual (Portuguese/English) booklet with texts by Franco Galvão and writer Nei Lopes, plus historical photographs. The launch coincided with two concerts at Sesc Pinheiros in São Paulo on August 8–9, 2026, featuring more than 20 musicians.
