Resistance Is Useless is the second and final full-length album by the American band Kalaban, released in 1993 on Syn-Phonic. Unlike their debut, Don't Panic (1991), this album marked a significant qualitative leap forward in terms of compositional maturity, performance technique, and production quality. The music departed from standard neo-progressive forms in favor of more complex, expansive, and cosmic arrangements. The album's sound became predominantly instrumental (vocalist David Thomas appears on only a couple of tracks) and took on an eclectic character, with influences from UK, King Crimson, Yes, and elements of jazz-rock.
The core of the sound is the duet of keyboardist Michael Stout (with extensive use of spatial synthesizers) and guitarist Randy Graves, supported by a technical and dynamic rhythm section.
