Ten years after his conducting debut, Gen Ota has finally taken up Mahler's Symphony No. 9. This is a live recording of the 437th regular concert with the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra, with whom he is enjoying a close working relationship as principal conductor.

After the intense drama of the meticulously and powerfully constructed first three movements, an extremely aesthetic musical world unfolds in the final movement. Everything, right up to the final silence when the entire hall becomes one, is captured without reservation.
