Windsor For The Derby - Difference and Repetition (2026)

Texas-based band Windsor for the Derby, led by Daniel Matz and Jason McNeeley, has released their third full-length record, marking their debut on the Young God label. The recording features guest contributions from musicians including Adam Wiltzie of the post-rock and ambient project Stars of the Lid, as well as Christian Goyer and Erik O'Brien.

The album's sonic environment revolves around intricately woven guitar patterns, vintage analog keyboards, electric pianos, and harmonium-like organs. On tracks such as the 13-minute “Shoes McCoat,” instrumental lines layer into slowly unfolding guitar labyrinths, utilizing harmonic distortion and feedback. Slurred, whispered vocals are buried deep in the mix, functioning as an additional textural instrument that dissolves into dense guitar and organ layers. The record showcases deep explorations of post-rock, ambient, and slowcore, establishing the group as a compelling fixture of the Austin independent scene.
