Adam Rubenstein - Firebreak (2026)

American musician Adam Rubenstein, known for his work with emo and indie rock bands Split Lip and Chamberlain, has released his solo album Firebreak, his first in over a decade. During the hiatus from his solo career, the artist focused on raising a family while quietly accumulating new material, which came into focus following his relocation from New York City to Cincinnati. The recording process unfolded in two distinct phases: energetic live sessions in New York and solitary work in a basement home studio in Cincinnati.

The record features guest contributions from guitarist Vernon Reid, musicians Chris Carrabba and Richie Birkenhead, with production support from Derik Lee. Lyrically, Firebreak reflects on fatherhood, moving to a new city, artistic identity, and the passage of time. Musically, the work builds upon the traditions of indie rock, singer-songwriter, and alternative rock.
