Universal Totem Orchestra - Mathematical Mother (2016)

Mathematical Mother is the third studio album by the Italian collective Universal Totem Orchestra, released in 2016 on Black Widow Records.

The band's music is deeply rooted in the Zeul genre, pioneered by the French band Magma. The album combines hypnotic, cyclical bass patterns, complex jazz-rock polyrhythms, operatic female vocals, and powerful symphonic arrangements with extensive use of organ and synthesizers.

Ana Torres Frau's operatic vocals lend the music a dramatic, almost sacred, and gothic quality, while virtuoso guitar work and a dense rhythm section add a prog-metal heaviness.
