Panamanian icon Rubén Blades performed at the Barts Festival accompanied by the Roberto Delgado Big Band, a twenty-piece orchestra featuring a powerful brass section and rich percussion. The 78-year-old salsa maestro demonstrated peak vocal form, interweaving his nearly three-hour setlist with reflections on social and political issues.

The concert spanned all eras of his career. The repertoire included politically charged pieces such as "País portátil," "Emigrantes," and "Buscando América," alongside timeless hits like "Decisiones," the jazz-infused "Ligia Elena," and the fusion track "Cuentas del alma." Blades paid tribute to the assassinated Archbishop Romero in the anti-violence anthem "El padre Antonio y el monaguillo Andrés," dedicated "Nadie sabe" to Joan Manuel Serrat, and honored his departed Fania peers (Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, and Héctor Lavoe). The performance culminated in rousing renditions of "María Lionza" and the foundational salsa classic "Pedro Navaja" from the landmark album Siembra, reinforcing his legacy as a true poet of the people.
