Peggy Lee - My Guitar à la Lee EP (2026)

To mark the 60th anniversary of Peggy Lee’s landmark 1966 album Guitars à la Lee, Capitol Records and Universal Music Enterprises have released the digital EP My Guitar à la Lee. The five-track collection unveils two previously unreleased recordings of the song "My Guitar," captured in 1961 during sessions for the album If You Go and arranged by Quincy Jones. Newly remastered from original Capitol Records session tapes by Robert Vosgien at RV Mastering, these historical takes had remained unreleased for over six decades.

Originally omitted from If You Go, the two 1961 interpretations resurfaced when Peggy Lee returned to the track for her 1966 concept album Guitars à la Lee, featuring a radically revised arrangement by legendary guitarist Bob Bain. Heard alongside tracks like "Sweet Happy Life," "Nice 'n' Easy," and the Tony Hatch composition "Call Me," the EP highlights the song's creative evolution. The release showcases Peggy Lee’s landmark 1966 project, which paired her vocals with an elite lineup of West Coast studio guitarists—including Laurindo Almeida, Herb Ellis, and Al Hendrickson—spanning jazz, bossa nova, and traditional pop standards.
