Fuego 77 - Fuego 77 (1978)

The story of Fuego 77 was an explosive and brief musical experience that marked the beginning of the career of the acclaimed sonero Frankie Vázquez. Founded by David Sánchez in New York after his arrival from Guayama, Puerto Rico, the orchestra captured the spirit of the neighborhood and the Puerto Rican essence in its only discographic work. The group's lineup included musicians such as Marcos Hernández, Baldi Caro, and Noé Matos, and also featured participation from Ismael Quintana. After success on the "Cuchifrito Circuit," the collective caught the attention of Al Santiago, who managed to sign them to the Alegre label, part of the Fania conglomerate. The resulting album is characterized by an aggressive sound, full of drive and originality, which established the group as a unique phenomenon on the salsa scene of that time before its final breakup.
