Mulato Bantú - Canto Cimarron - Mulato Bantu (2026) [Hi-Res]

"Canto Cimarrón," the third studio album by Colombian artist Mulato Bantú, comprises eleven tracks dedicated to reclaiming Afro-Caribbean identity, historical memory, and freedom. The release traces a sonic journey spanning from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and the historic settlement of Palenque de Benkos down to the Caribbean coast. Musically, the project merges traditional son palenquero, nueva trova cubana, and Latin American singer-songwriter traditions, forming a unique signature style defined as Afrotrova.

Each track presents a narrative of contemporary resistance, cultural preservation, and self-discovery away from urban life. Mulato Bantú co-produced the record with sound engineer Nacho Nieto at Jambo Récords in Barranquilla, while mastering was handled by Camilo Silva in Bogotá. Released through the independent label Palenque Récords, the album features cover art by Wilber Lareus and Emilber Andrade "Cheifor One", inspired by African spirituality and modern maroonage aesthetics. The digital release is scheduled for Friday, August 28.
