Postcards From Downtown is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Dayna Kurtz, originally released in 2001–2002 on her own independent label, Kismet Records, in the US, with a European edition following in 2003 on the Dutch label Munich Records. The record was recorded at Kaleidoscope Sound in Jersey City, New Jersey, and produced by Kurtz herself alongside longtime collaborator Randy Crafton, who also played drums.

The sessions brought in the string quartet ETHEL and Kurtz's mentor, folk singer Richie Havens, who provided backing vocals on "Somebody Leave A Light On." Accordion, violin, and keyboards round out a largely acoustic instrumental palette, lending the record a cabaret-like, torch-song intimacy.

The album marked Kurtz's breakthrough in Europe, particularly the Netherlands, where it reached the local Top 20 and led to sold-out headline shows at Amsterdam's Paradiso. Critics at AllMusic and Uncut praised her powerful, distinctive voice and the literary bent of her lyrics, several of which draw on the bleak, industrial landscape of Paterson, New Jersey — the same city that once inspired Allen Ginsberg.

In early 2026, a 25th Anniversary Edition arrived — remixed and freshly remastered (mastering by Graemme Brown) — timed to a milestone show at New York's Joe's Pub, the same venue where Kurtz first celebrated the album's release with Richie Havens and ETHEL.
