With his first album for Paraty, Iori Hayashi delves deeply into the world of Jacques Duphly, one of the greatest masters of the 18th-century French harpsichord. With his selection of 14 pieces from the four volumes of *Pièces de clavecin* published between 1744 and 1768, he demonstrates the full range of Duphly’s artistry: the legacy of the French tradition, character portraits, theatrical intensity, delicate ornamentation, instrumental brilliance, and inner depth. It was the discovery of Duphly’s music that led Iori Hayashi to the harpsichord.
