Asaf Yuria - In Light of a New Moon (2026) [Hi-Res]

New York-based tenor saxophonist Asaf Yuria presents his third project on Jojo Records, titled In Light of a New Moon, set for release on September 4, 2026. A dream project envisioned by the artist for over a decade, the album was cut during an intensive two-day recording session at the legendary Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs. Moving away from the fully original compositions of his previous record Exorcisms, this release leans into the rich heritage of jazz and hard bop, referencing the lineage of saxophonists such as Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, and Benny Golson. The ensemble reunites Yuria with his former mentors: pianist George Cables, bassist Omer Avital, drummer Billy Hart, alongside guest trumpeter Joe Magnarelli. The material highlights Yuria's original track "Praise of Shadows," compositions by George Cables, and intimate tenor-piano dialogues on ballad standards like "Polka Dots and Moonbeams" and "Con Alma," celebrating intergenerational collaboration and musical lineage.
