Rézeleje Fanfárosok - Fúgamadár (2026)

Hungarian concert ensemble Rézeleje Fanfárosok merges the traditions of the táncház movement with jazz improvisation, forging a distinctive sound at the intersection of Balkan folk music and brass performance. Featuring a rare lineup of saxophone, trumpet, baritone horn, accordion, traditional koboz lute, and drums, the group interprets the musical heritage of the Csángó people from eastern Romania. The record features vocalist Kinga Korsós singing Hungarian Csángó folk songs, alongside guest instrumentalists playing cimbalom and the traditional kaval flute. The album maintains a relentless, driving tempo throughout: from the pacy dance "Batuta" to the title track "Fúgamadár," where asymmetric trumpet solos blend with intricate counterpoint and minimalist arpeggios, creating a vivid representation of modern Hungarian folk and brass band music.
