Emma Pilgaard - A Woman's Voice (2026) [Hi-Res]

Danish vocalist and composer Emma Pilgaard, recipient of the 2022 Young Jazz Talent of the Year award at the Odense Jazz Festival, releases her third album, A Woman's Voice. The concept of the release is rooted in historian and author Gry Jexsen's book Kvinde kend din historie, which highlights the role of women in history. The album serves as a musical interpretation of the lives of eight remarkable yet overlooked Danish women, bringing their narratives into a contemporary setting. Recorded with an international ensemble of acclaimed European musicians, the album merges virtuosic piano work, free improvisation, and atmospheric sonic textures. The musical narrative operates at the intersection of contemporary jazz and vocal jazz, weaving a dynamic dialogue between historical legacy and the present day.
