Deep reverence for the classics and an inexhaustible passion for creation: these define Hideki Togi, a Gagaku musician who has built a unique musical world by freely traversing the realms of tradition and innovation.
This release serves as the culmination of "TOGISM"—the distinctive musical philosophy Togi has pursued throughout his 30-year career. Spanning two discs, it encapsulates a one-of-a-kind sonic landscape born from the fusion of ancient and modern, East and West, tradition and innovation.
The collection features a wide array of tracks, ranging from the resonant sounds of Gagaku and expansive original compositions evoking the Silk Road to progressive musical arrangements and interpretations of classic Japanese songs. It also includes reimagined versions of his early signature works, infused with his current artistic sensibilities, vividly illustrating his 30-year journey, his present-day artistry, and his vision for the future.
Togi handles much of the instrumentation and recording himself, while his son, Norichika Togi, contributes on *hichiriki*, *sho*, guitar, and vocals. Listeners can sense the vital spirit of TOGISM and classical Gagaku being passed down to the next generation.
