Il Bacio della Medusa returns with a new album, Tarlo, consisting of nine tracks, in which the band retains the rock energy and spirit that have always defined their work, while at the same time demonstrating a renewed compositional and expressive maturity.
The sound and arrangements are enriched with new harmonic and timbral elements, but they do not lose the natural fluidity of the song form, which has always been one of the band’s strengths. The piano takes centre stage, accompanied by classical instruments and electric guitars, which create an eclectic and multifaceted sound.
The main theme of the album is reflected in its title — “woodworm” — and serves as a metaphor for a thought that slowly corrodes the human soul, giving rise to anxieties, doubts, and questions. This is the seed of rebellion and inner transformation, as well as a reflection of the contradictions of modern society, which constantly call into question established ideas, identity, and personal freedoms. Nine tracks with a powerful emotional and musical impact take the listener on a journey in which they confront what is eating away at them from within, as well as the very anxiety that can become a catalyst for change.
The album concludes the socially oriented trilogy that began with “Seme” and confirms Il Bacio della Medusa’s status as one of the most distinctive and recognizable bands on the Italian prog scene: this work perfectly balances rock energy, narrative depth, and musical experimentation.
