Florencio Cruz presents “La Ciudad”, the third preview single from The Construction of a Brave Heart, the new album by Florencio Cruz Electric Ensemble and the most personal and mature work of his career. Originally composed in 2017, the piece has gradually taken on a deep emotional meaning for the saxophonist and composer. After the premature passing of a very dear friend, with whom he used to sing this song on the beach, “La Ciudad” became a space of memory, affection and celebration of life. With a sound that combines contemporary jazz, cinematic soundscapes, improvisation, and influences from ambient music and progressive rock, “La Ciudad” reflects some of the emotional values that run through the universe of The Construction of a Brave Heart: vulnerability, personal transformation, memory, and the construction of one’s own identity. The track will be included on the new album by Florencio Cruz Electric Ensemble, recorded live and in analogue format at Ocean Sound Recordings in Norway, prioritising human interaction between the musicians and the capture of unrepeatable moments.
