The Andrew Oldham Orchestra - The Rolling Stones Songbook (1966)

The Rolling Stones Songbook (1966) is a historically significant and groundbreaking album created by The Rolling Stones' producer and manager, Andrew Loog Oldham. Oldham assembled the cream of London's session musicians (including a young John Paul Jones, later to become Led Zeppelin's bassist, and arranger David Whitaker) to reimagine Jagger and Richards' hits in lush, symphonic instrumental arrangements. The album has gone down in history not only as a vibrant monument to the Swinging London era but also as the source of the famous loop for The Verve's smash hit "Bitter Sweet Symphony" (based on an orchestral version of the track "The Last Time").
