Hardly any composer is as deeply rooted in our cultural memory as Ludwig van Beethoven. To mark the 200th anniversary of his death in 2027, Johannes X. Schachtner and I came up with the idea of juxtaposing his works with a new musical perspective. After all, how can we experience Beethoven’s once-revolutionary music in a new way today? By pairing it with something truly new.
