Bassist and vocalist Kurena Ishikawa—who commands a unique presence in the jazz scene thanks to her tasteful, fluid bass playing and crystalline vocals—presents her first self-produced album, infused with the flavors of 70s soul and Brazilian music.

She recorded the album with trusted musicians with whom she has frequently performed live, including Takeshi Ohbayashi, Taka Nawashiro, Gene Jackson, and Kan. While rooted in jazz, the album—featuring covers such as Minnie Riperton’s "Les Fleurs" and Roy Ayers’ "Searching"—delivers a bright, open sound that draws more heavily than her previous work on the essence of 70s soul, soul-jazz, and Brazilian music.
