Visions of Nar, Zela Margossian, Jeremy Rose - Awakening (2026) [Hi-Res]

Australian jazz ensemble Visions of Nar, led by Armenian-Lebanese pianist Zela Margossian and saxophonist Jeremy Rose, released their album Awakening. Serving as the follow-up to their debut record Daughter of the Seas on ABC Jazz, the project was recorded at the Australian Chamber Orchestra's Pier 2/3 studios in Sydney. The ensemble's name and underlying concept take inspiration from Nar, the Armenian deity of water and rain, symbolizing cycles of transformation and renewal.

The ten-track record blends Armenian folk modal structures, jazz improvisation, and electronic soundscapes. The core line-up is expanded by tabla master Bobby Singh and guitarist Hilary Geddes, known for her work with punk group The Buoys. The album's sonic architecture revolves around the resonance of a Steinway D grand piano, intricate Indian tabla rhythms, Armenian traditional modes, and nuanced guitar textures, shifting between reflective atmospheric passages and energetic compositions like Eat Chaos.
