Patrick Shiroishi & Jason Nazary - here i am no i (2026) [Hi-Res]

American saxophonist Patrick Shiroishi and drummer Jason Nazary teamed up to record their joint debut album, "here i am no i," released via the Finnish imprint We Jazz Records. The record emerged from a spontaneous effort by both musicians to process a devastating personal tragedy—the sudden passing of their close friend, jazz trumpeter jaimie branch.

For Jason Nazary, the session marked his first musical interaction following the loss: locking himself in the studio, he tracked his drum performance in a single continuous take over seven tracks sent by Patrick Shiroishi (earlier raw sketches of which appeared on Bandcamp as "Time in Knot"). The resulting work is a seamless improvisational suite where the foundational saxophone-and-drums duo setup expands through electronics, vocal fragments, and electro-acoustic layering. Blending free jazz, blues motifs, and avant-garde soundscapes, the album conveys a deeply devotional, reflective tone while maintaining steady rhythmic momentum.
