Briefvisit (2020) is the second studio album from Hangzhou-based Dolphy Kick Bebop, a Chinese underground psychedelic scene. Taking their name from jazz innovator Eric Dolphy and the bebop revolution, the group creates not pure jazz, but a hypnotic, noisy, and visionary psychedelia. The album immerses the listener in an atmosphere of extended, spatial improvisations, where the techniques of 1970s German krautrock merge with Eastern brass scores, free jazz, and dense guitar feedback.
