The 1978 album As A Child, originally released on Seven Seas and reissued in high-quality digital format by SOUND FUJI, stands as a landmark recording of the late-1970s Japanese jazz scene. Led by Japanese saxophonist Yoshio Ohtomo on alto and soprano saxophone, the quartet features pianist Toshiyuki Sekine, bassist Satoshi Kosugi, and drummer Akiyoshi Yoshino. As Ohtomo's fourth leader session, the work seamlessly merges elements of hard bop, modal jazz, soul, and spiritual jazz, delivering a deep, warm, and expressive sound characteristic of Japan's golden era of acoustic jazz.
