Djabe - Slices Of Life (Studio & Live) (2026)

The album *Slices of Life* was recorded in 2005, following the release of *Táncolnak a kazlak*. By this time, the band had become a regular fixture at major European and American jazz and world music festivals. Featuring compositions by Tamás Barabás, the material Djabe recorded for this album worked exceptionally well in a festival setting; tracks such as "Doromb," "Omachule," and "Waterfall" were generally met with tremendous success.
Although Attila Égerházi contributed fewer compositions to this record than to previous ones, "City of Habi" became a true concert classic—a song the band would later perform with Steve Hackett. András Sipos, the band's percussionist (who passed away in 2007), was also in peak form, playing a major role in Djabe’s international success.
The *Slices of Life* CD was well received by both domestic and international audiences and critics alike. Invitations poured in from home and abroad; a total of over fifty thousand people saw the band perform during the album's promotional tour across America and Europe. Among the Hungarian tour dates, a 2006 performance at Budapest’s Petőfi Hall—which played to a full house—was recorded in both audio and video formats. The second disc of this 20th-anniversary release features the material from that Budapest concert, where the band performed the compositions in the same track order as the original CD.
The first disc of this new double-disc release is the original studio album in its entirety. Tamás Barabás, the band's sound engineer, deemed the album's sound perfect; there was no need for remixing or remastering.
