Jimetta Rose - MettaSun (2026) [Hi-Res]

Los Angeles-based vocalist, producer, and bandleader Jimetta Rose created her solo album MettaSun, released via the Day Dreamer imprint. The record's overarching concept draws inspiration from the interplanetary mythology of jazz pioneer Sun Ra and the legacy of Sun Ra Arkestra vocalist June Tyson. Rooted in Afrofuturism, the album responds to contemporary social friction with a narrative centered on spiritual healing, collective resilience, and musical unity.

Musically, the project blends elements of Jazz, Gospel, Soul, and Jazz-Funk. The recording sessions featured Jimetta Rose's choir, The Voices of Creation, along with vibraphonist Maia The Artiste (known for her work with Sun Ra Arkestra and Phil Cohran). Captured in just three days to preserve the raw energy of live studio improvisation, the album fuses reworked Sun Ra compositions with spoken interludes, expansive Cosmic Jazz arrangements, and vocal-driven Soul narratives.
