SQUANDERERS - Bright Madness (2026) [Hi-Res]

The improvisational trio SQUANDERERS, featuring vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Wendy Eisenberg, guitarist David Grubbs, and renowned producer and multi-instrumentalist Bonner Kramer, released their third studio album, Bright Madness. Recorded in Asheville, North Carolina, right after the group's performance at the 2025 Big Ears Festival, the album comprises a collection of instant compositions laid down in a single afternoon. The record captures the musicians engaging in rich free improvisation, blending delicate melodic textures with dynamic tension and the grand scope of their avant-garde live shows.

Released via Kramer's iconic Shimmy-Disc label, the record follows their previous full-length offerings, If a Body Meet a Body and Skantagio. The project highlights a deep synthesis of its members' individual backgrounds: Eisenberg's jazz and noise exploration (also known for their work in Editrix), Grubbs's extensive history in experimental rock (formerly of Gastr del Sol and Bastro), and Kramer's production sensibilities, marking his first long-term recording and live performance effort in twenty-five years.
