Aleksis Liukko Trio - Wicket Valley (2026) [Hi-Res]

The Aleksis Liukko Trio released its debut album in December 2022, and the compositions from the record will be performed during an October 2023 tour. Aleksis Liukko earned a Master of Music degree from the University of Gothenburg in 2019. In addition to his own trio, he plays in groups such as the Sointi Jazz Orchestra and the Laura Annika Quartet—for which he has also composed and arranged music—as well as the Juho Peltoniemi Trio and the Anton Berg Collective.

Bassist Mikael Saastamoinen (known for projects such as Perussastamala, Katu Kaiku, and Linda Fredriksson) and drummer Okko Saastamoinen (OK:KO, Sir Garrison, Arppa)—both among Finland’s leading musicians—bring strong ensemble interplay and natural musical communication to the trio. The influence of African-American musical traditions is evident, while a skillful approach to improvisation creates an atmosphere that is energetic, Nordic, and vibrantly colorful.
