Japanese singer, songwriter, and tenor banjo player Tomomitsu Maruyama released the album Sings Trads, presented as part of the Song Cycle series on OLDAYS RECORDS. His musical trajectory was initiated during his childhood in New York through an encounter with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, later developing within the Waseda University New Orleans Jazz Club. He is widely recognized as the leader of KHACHA BAND and for his collaborations with Ban Ban Bazar, Charan-Po-Rantan, Yuya Uchida, Haruka Kikuchi, Kensuke Shintani Onomatopoeia, and Charlotte Kate Fox.

The album Sings Trads features a core trio configuration alongside pianist Saki Goto and bassist Yosuke Terao, with guest appearances by trombonist Shoichi Yamada and trumpeter Maaya Kawahara. The record reimagines the heritage of New Orleans jazz, traditional jazz, and blues, merging the acoustic combination of banjo, piano, and brass with original Japanese lyrics. Moving across expressive blues, romantic ballads, and spiritual hymns, the release translates the warmth of early trad jazz into a modern framework.
