Martin Pyne - Trios (2026) [Hi-Res]

British vibraphonist and percussionist Martin Pyne presents Trios, a double album showcasing his approach to the vibraphone across two distinct trio formations and solo performances.

Disc one features the Vampire Coast Trio with double bassist Michael Bardon and drummer Johnny Hunter, focusing on transparent chamber jazz textures, spacious counterpoint, and lyrical improvisation. Disc two highlights the Chalk Horses Trio alongside electric pianist David Beebee and drummer Angus Bishop, exploring the lush sonic interplay between Fender Rhodes and vibraphone within an atmospheric modal jazz and contemporary jazz framework.

The release is framed by solo pieces utilizing balafon and temple bowls, honoring his Dangerous Kitchen collaborators Stan Sulzmann and Simon Allen, as well as a tribute to influential US vibraphone innovator Walt Dickerson.
