"Alles wird gut" ("Everything Will Be Fine") is the 2005 debut album by German pianist Olaf Taranczewski, released on Poet Club Records. It was recorded shortly before he graduated from the Mainz University of Music, when he was still entirely unknown on the jazz scene. For the Taranczewski Trio he chose musicians with a feel for subtle tonal shading: double bassist Florian Werther and drummer Axel Pape, both several years his senior. Pape was already a familiar name and soon won the WDR Jazz Prize with the Sebastian Sternal Trio.Title: Alles Wird Gut (20th Anniversary Remastered Edition)

The 42-minute recording took place at the Cologne Loft Studios, among a Steinway D grand and two Fender Rhodes; it was mixed by Christian Heckel and later remastered by Taranczewski himself. The seven original compositions swing between sparkling, light-footed moments and brooding ones, always resting on a deep inner calm. The album first laid down the traits of the pianist's personal style: jazz of contemplative melancholy, combined with influences from film music and neo-classical music. The range is broad, from romantic grace to funk groove in "The Return of Dr. Froncz". Some pieces rely on the full resonance of the grand piano, others are wrapped in the bell-like tones of the Fender Rhodes, and on several tracks the two instruments converse, a technique recalling Bill Evans' 1971 album "From Left to Right". Evans is the pianist's chief influence, but not the only one: the ballad "Jazz Pa Svenska" evokes Jan Johansson, pioneer of Swedish jazz piano, and his early-1960s album of the same name; "Frederic's Choice" pays tribute, in the quiet majesty of its melody and harmonies, to Frédéric Chopin's Prélude in E minor, Op. 28 No. 4; and "Legrand Bleu" tips its hat to the French film composer and jazz arranger Michel Legrand.
