Jack Pearce - Church Lane (2026)

British alto saxophonist Jack Pearce releases his debut album, “Church Lane,” on Adhyâropa Records on 9 October 2026. The record introduces his Jack Pearce Quintet, formed at Leeds Conservatoire and shaped by two years of touring across the UK. The lineup includes guitarist Sam Hughes, pianist Joe Frost-Tesfaye, drummer Angus Haygarth, and bassist Dan Sanderson.

The music grows out of contemporary jazz, funk, and soul. Its seven original compositions are built on the interplay and spontaneity honed onstage: tight ensemble writing sits alongside expansive improvisation, with melody at the center. The album was recorded in the 12th-century church of St Mary’s in Kirkby Lonsdale, and the space became a full participant in the sound: its vaulted ceilings and stained glass lend the recording warm resonance and a sweeping atmosphere. The debut thus captures both the live immediacy of the band and the sense of place where the music was born.
