Caravan Strange - Gowa Wa Barra (2026) [Hi-Res]

Austin, Texas-based quartet Caravan Strange, co-founded by Cairo-raised guitarist and composer Moe Diab, explores authentic world music within the local scene. Moving past shallow regional stylizations of exotic sounds, the band delivers deep transcontinental, bilingual compositions that integrate traditional North African motifs and Arabic scales.

The group's trajectory began in 2021 with an ethnic percussion-heavy reggae track. The ensemble continues to expand its Bazaar Bizarre project, which features five nuanced tracks. On the single "Samra," Caravan Strange blends Middle Eastern MIDI textures, rich instrumental riffs, call-and-response vocals, and Walter Becker-style Steely Dan guitar work, bridging jazz rock with Arabic traditions.
