David Champagne - Come Before Winter (2026) [Hi-Res]

Jazz trumpeter David Champagne has released his debut album, Come Before Winter. His playing is fiery and soulful, with a big, warm, brilliant sound, and his compositions are built on strong, memorable melodies and an inviting style. He chose to record with longtime musical companions from his The Champagne Jazz Quintet (CJQ): pianist Scott Giddens, saxophonist Todd DelGiudice, drummer John Lumpkin II, and bassist Dennis Marks. Years of playing together have given the band a special artistic connection that comes through in the music. Trombonist and baritone saxophonist Michael Dease also joined the sessions.

The album was recorded on March 3–4 at The Studio at NFS Ranch in Elkton, Florida. Ryan LeRoy and Aaron Swihart handled engineering, with additional leadership from Mica Bethea. Mixing and mastering were done by the legendary Dave Darlington at Bass Hit Studio in New York, and the project was produced by Ulysses Owens Jr.
