"The Triphant" is a narrative-driven concept rock album that tells the dark and dramatic story of two main characters, Denis and Anika, whose destinies intertwine amid personal crises and struggles. Unlike Johan Stensland's previous large-scale rock operas ("Crossfade" and "Duality"), which featured a separate vocalist for each character, Stensland performs virtually all the vocals on this album, masterfully shifting his delivery and creating the effect of a full-fledged theatrical performance.
The musical structure is divided into conventional acts, where key plot twists are highlighted by long, epic compositions—for example, the eight-minute track "Nothing's Wrong," which closes the album's first act.
