Robin Elliott - There is a Land (2023)

"There is a Land" is the debut full-length studio album by British indie folk singer-songwriter Robin Elliott, released on October 20, 2023, on the independent London label Folkroom Records. The record marks the artist's transition from a minimalist acoustic sound to rich, full-band arrangements.

Robin Elliott hails from Merseyside but now lives and works in London. The long-awaited debut album follows three successful EPs and was produced by his longtime collaborator, BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner Ben Walker.
"There is a Land" is an eclectic yet cohesive record exploring the mutability of life, the acceleration of time with age, and the theme of memory. The album opens with the track "Another Country," which explores the difficulties of long-distance relationships. "The Classics" opens with an archival recording of Robin's father testing an old recorder, immediately setting the vintage tone for the narrative. The title track, "There is a Land," is a deep jazz-folk trip, seamlessly transitioning from solitary vocals to a powerful finale featuring a vocal trio, Hammond organ, and a dense drum section.
