The Desert Furs - The Desert Furs (2022)

"The Desert Furs" is the self-titled debut studio album by the American psychedelic rock band The Desert Furs from Longmont, Colorado, released on October 20, 2022. The record established the band's signature eclectic sound, which they dubbed "Fur Funk."

The Desert Furs' debut album is a cinematic sonic journey through the high deserts of the American West. The band creates an enveloping, warm atmosphere: their songs are filled with soft vocals, soaring guitar solos from Bill Hunt, and analog keyboard textures.
Unlike their later release, "Existing Just For Fun" (2025), the debut album has a slightly rawer, garageier, and more authentic sound, maintaining the spirit of spontaneous studio jams. Recording and mixing took place at Violet Recording Studios in Boulder, Colorado with engineer Michael Hunter [The Desert Furs].
