Frédéric Favarel - Kata (2026) [Hi-Res]

French jazz guitarist and composer Frédéric Favarel is releasing his eighth album, “Kata”, on CD via Wee See Music. It was recorded in Paris in spring 2025. Favarel explores an orchestral format and brings in the human voice as a full melodic instrument, performed by Déborah Tanguy, Nelly Lavergne and Ellinoa. The central challenge is to blend the timbres of the voices with those of the electric guitar and double bass. Thomas Savy adds a lyrical touch on bass clarinet.

Between the composed pieces sit the “Miniatures,” duets with double bassist Marc Buronfosse that leave room for improvisation. The album thus balances fixed form with free playing.
